Ideas to Action:

Independent research for global prosperity

Wing is the IDRC Fellow at the Center for Global Development and an assistant professor at the Central University of Finance and Economics (Beijing). His research focuses on the impact of natural disasters on household well-being and the development of affected communities in the short and medium term. For his graduate study, he examined how the migration patterns and fertility decisions change with the shocks of natural disasters in Indonesia. He also explored how rainfall variability and insufficiency shapes household risk taking behaviors in Ethiopia.

Currently, he studies the political impacts of natural hazards in Taiwan and how the growth of social capital has changed since the Sichuan earthquakes in 2008 in China.
