Research Assistant – Technology and Development Program

The Center for Global Development, an independent, non-profit policy research organization in Washington, DC seeks a Research Assistant to provide a broad array of research and organizational support functions to the team working on technology and development.

General Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will perform a range of research and coordination duties in support of the program, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct literature reviews, data compilation, and analysis for ongoing and new research projects focusing on the role of technology in development.
  • Support the management of working groups organized by the program.
  • Collaborate with researchers and members of the CGD's communications team to draft blogs, policy briefs, and notes on research findings.
  • Analyze and translate data into insightful visualizations for CGD publications.
  • Assist with proposal development, grant management, and production of deliverables.
  • Maintain and update CGD’s Technology and Development webpages.
  • Work with the events coordinator to schedule internal and external events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, political science, international affairs, or other development-related fields. Familiarity with issues related to development. Interest in the role of technology.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organization and time management skills, with an attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to be a team player and to successfully manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Essential software skills: Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), Stata proficiency a plus.
