Aaron Sayama joined CGD in January 2018 as an institutional advancement officer. Before joining CGD, he was a manager of Programs and Business Development at the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA) in Washington, DC. Previously, he served as special assistant and projects coordinator at OPIC in then President and CEO Elizabeth Littlefield's office. Prior to that, Sayama was a Fulbright Public Policy Fellow in the Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice in Timor-Leste.
Earlier in his career, Sayama worked for the State of Georgia's Criminal Justice Coordinating Council as lead program manager for numerous of federal and state criminal justice programs, on issues such as gun and gang violence reduction initiatives, drug and alcohol treatment schemes, and policy reform for sexual assault kit testing.
Sayama graduated from the University of Georgia with an MPA, specializing in public policy and management, and a BA in International Affairs with a minor in Linguistics.
