Here we are, deep in the throes of summer, which hopefully means you have finished your planned holiday books and are in need of another good read or two! But what should you choose? We asked CGD experts to share their recommendations. Check out the list below to find what fits your mood, whether that's a deep dive into migration policy, a surprising look into Machiavelli's life, or a techno-utopian, time-traveling adventure (I know what gets my vote!).

A Little Bit of CGD at USAID

Blog Post

This week, CGD took another step forward in putting the “do” in our mission of being a “think and do tank.” For a number of years, we have hosted policymakers as visiting fellows at the center, a great program that has helped to ground our work in the realities of policymaking. (Of course, as a visiting fellow alumnus, I may be a bit biased!). Now, we are turning this program on its head and sending one of our own, Casey Dunning, into the policy world under a new CGD-sponsored fellowship.

What to Read in Summer 2016

Blog Post

Whether for intellectual enrichment or purely for leisure, it's not summer without summer reading. Thus, we've polled our experts for their favorite page-turners, and here they are. Running the gamut from global politics to big data to the Pulitzer-winning story of a Haitian slave-turned-general, these are the narratives, analyses, and exposés that have caught our fellows' attention this summer.

Wonkcast Music Poll

Blog Post

Love the music on the Global Prosperity Wonkcast? Hate it? Now’s your chance to help pick our next theme music. CGD communications assistant Aaron King and I have selected three possibilities from Free Music Archive. Listen to the excerpts below and vote for one. First tune with 100 votes (or, failing that, the tune with the most votes after two weeks) will be our theme music until we get around to running another poll.
